Is Teletherapy Effective?
Yes! A growing body of research supports the effectiveness of teletherapy as a service delivery model. According to a report published in 2021 by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), 80% of clients who completed all speech therapy visits over teletherapy demonstrated progress, while similarly, 79.9% of those who received in-person speech therapy demonstrated improvement.
Families also report benefits. In a November 2021 study, surveyed families reported that "teletherapy was just as effective for their child as in-person services."
Mallory has nearly three years of experience providing speech teletherapy. Parla Speech, Language, & Literacy Services, LLC uses a HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom.
Because each individual is unique, teletherapy may not be the best fit for some. It is generally not recommended for children under four years of age. If you have any questions or reservations about teletherapy, please reach out.
